Automatic Gates and Access Control in Nashville, TN
Paramount Gate Company is based in Nashville, on Highway 100 on the west side of the city. We are not a Middle Tennessee company that services Nashville, we are a Nashville company, and Davidson County is where the largest share of our work has been done over the last twenty years. Alan Brewer has been building and repairing gates in this city long enough to have installed systems, watched them run for a decade and a half, and gone back out to modernize them.
Nashville Is Not a Flat City, and That Changes the Gate
Anyone who has driven Belle Meade Boulevard, the streets off Granny White Pike, or the ridgelines through Forest Hills and Oak Hill knows the southern half of Davidson County rolls hard. Driveways climb, fall away, and curve, sometimes all three within the first fifty feet off the street.
That matters more for a gate than for almost any other thing you can install outside a house. A swing gate needs level ground through its entire arc. A driveway that rises from the road will bind a swing gate as it travels unless the hinge geometry and ground clearance are worked out before anything is fabricated. Very often the correct answer on a Nashville slope is a slide or cantilever gate instead, which does not care about grade the same way.
Nashville also sits on limestone, and it is frequently closer to the surface than anyone expects. That shows up when we set posts or dig footings for columns, and it is a reason we look at the site before we quote rather than after.
The Neighborhoods We Get Called To Most
Gate work in Davidson County concentrates in a few areas. Forest Hills and Oak Hill, where lots are large and homes sit well back from the street. Green Hills and the streets around it. The west side out Highway 100 and Old Hickory Boulevard, which is our own neighborhood. Whites Creek and the northern county, where properties get larger and more rural. And increasingly East Nashville, where infill construction on deeper lots has created entrances that did not exist ten years ago.
Each of those has a different profile. A Forest Hills entrance is usually an estate-scale project with columns and ornamental iron. An East Nashville infill gate is often narrower, more modern, and horizontal in emphasis. We build both.
Metro Permitting and HOA Review
Davidson County properties fall under Metro Nashville, and the electrical work involved in bringing power to a gate can require permitting depending on the scope. Separately, a number of Nashville subdivisions and neighborhood associations have architectural review requirements for anything visible from the street, and a driveway gate is about as visible as it gets.
We will tell you what we know about your specific situation during the consultation. We also strongly recommend confirming with your HOA before we begin fabrication, because a custom gate is not something anyone wants to redesign after the steel is cut.
What We Do in Nashville
We handle the full range of gate and access control work in Davidson County: automatic gate installation, custom estate gates, gate repair, gate operators and openers, access control systems, commercial gate systems, and fence and masonry columns.
Repair Work Across Davidson County
A meaningful share of our Nashville calls are repairs on systems we did not install. Nashville has had a lot of gate contractors come and go over twenty years, and there are a great many orphaned systems in this county whose original installer is unreachable. We work on them.
Paramount exceeded my expectations on our residential driveway gate project. Friendly, professional, and easy to communicate with from initial planning through completion. After some intense Nashville weather, Alan followed up to make sure my system was still running with no issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where in Nashville is Paramount Gate Company located?
Our shop is on Highway 100 on the west side of Nashville, near the Bellevue area. That puts us close to the west and south sides of Davidson County and within an easy drive of Williamson County.
Do I need a permit for an automatic gate in Nashville?
The gate itself often does not require one, but the electrical work to power it can, depending on scope. Many neighborhoods also have HOA architectural review for anything at the street. We will discuss both during the consultation and recommend confirming with your association before fabrication.
Will a swing gate work on a sloped Nashville driveway?
Sometimes, with adjusted hinge geometry and clearance. Often a slide or cantilever gate is the better answer on a driveway that climbs from the street. We assess the grade on site before recommending either.
Do you work in East Nashville and the north side of the county?
Yes. We work throughout Davidson County, including East Nashville, Whites Creek, and the northern areas, as well as the west and south sides where most of our work has historically been.
Can you service a gate installed by a company that is out of business?
Yes, and it is a common call in Nashville. We work on the common operator brands and control boards regardless of who installed the system.
